Purple Hills

Description

Higger Tor, Peak District National Park, South Yorkshire, England.

In my attempts to catch a sunset, i've tripped off to the Peak District roughly four times over the past two weeks, each of these times i've failed, so when yesterday evenings light looked promising, I decided to give it another go.

As time was against me, I didn't really have time to research a new location, so I opted to go to Higger Tor, as I knew that parking for the place, was rougly a five minute walk to location.

My first few compositional attempts seemed to elude me, but just as the sun went down, I found a pair of interesting rocks. I loved the way they sloped away from each other, almost replicating each others movements. At the same time, they seemed to be shielding the little clump of heather from the prevailing winds.

Overall i'm quite happy with the composition, i'm also pleased that the peak district has eventually come good for me.
